There’s an old bumper sticker that says "Ted Kennedy’s Car Has Killed More People than My Gun." Perhaps it’s time to create one that says "Sara Lee Has Killed More People than the Manson Family." And to wonder why they don’t focus on controlling their product quality instead of our guns. [More]

We're the Only Ones Striking with Force Enough

Metro Gang Strike Force members committed crimes by taking home property that had been seized during their police operations...The property included flat- and large-screen TVs, laptops and other computer equipment, electronics and recreational items such as water scooters. [More]
No doubt just a few bad apples. I mean, only a third of them were "implicated."

The Mercenary

Part of my job as Founder is to extend invitations for people to speak at these events. Recently, I invited a famous Second Amendment activist. I asked him to spend five minutes on stage. He said he would be very happy and honored to attend the Second Amendment March ... but only if we paid him $40,000. [More]
Not that I consider myself to be in the exalted rank of important bigshot 2A luminaries, but I feel like I'm pushing things asking people to share GRE links...

I've got nothing against people making a living. It's why I encourage you to buy books from guys like Matthew Bracken and David E. Young, or purchase videos from JPFO...

But $40K, two first-class tickets, luxury hotel accommodations...I guess this cat figures his pearls of wisdom and ability to inspire us, the little people, are enough of a contribution.

I'm really curious as to who it is. I have a suspicion, based on a certain NRA director who has been reported as charging that precise amount to attend board meetings, but it would be unfair to consider that conclusive without facts. I'm going to email Grand Rapids GRE Skip Coryell and if he reveals it later, I'll be able to tell you if I was right.

The Conduct of Genl Howe is extremely embarrassing. He left the Capes of Delaware the 31st Ulto. and having never been heard of since the 7th Inst. off Sinapuxent. It was generally beleived here, that he had passed the Capes of Virginia, and that Charles Town in South Carolina was the object of his expedition. We were so fully persuaded of this, and convinced of the impracticability of affording it succour in time from this Army, that a Resolution was come into this Morning, to move to morrow towards Hudson's River, if approved by Congress, to avail ourselves of any advantages, circumstances might point out. The destination of the Fleet, if for Chesapeak Bay, must soon be known, and the Army will remain here, till further intelligence is obtained on the Subject. At present, I think it not unlikely, that their appearance off the Capes is to amuse and that their designs may yet be against Charles Town. [More]

Another Racist Obama Protestor

Correspondent ZGeorge points us to an MSNBC video and notes:
MSLSD crops the video of the guy in Arizona to obscure the fact that he is black and then Contessa Brewer and her crew of spit bubble blowers go on about how white people are carrying guns around presidents of "color."

A little background:

The guy carrying the gun is black - not white.

The event is no where near Obama.

The guy carrying the gun cleared this with the police department ahead of time.

Open carry of firearms in Arizona is legal.
Not surprising.

The socialists want us to believe using "socialist" to describe their socialism is a racist codeword.

This nitwit would have us believe the Obama /Joker poster originated with racists. I still haven't seen a retraction on that one.

Hey, it's not us intent on rendering "people of color" defenseless by force of the state--it's them.

And we all know how MSNBC feels about guns. The very thought sends a sensation down their legs, albeit a wet one, as opposed to a "furrowing".

We're the Only Ones Just Popping In Enough

“I instinctively slid [my gun] off my belt and placed it in the center console, and armed the alarm,” Brown said. “I didn’t want to take it in. I was only going in for a hot second.” [More]

Can Obama's Anti-Gun OSHA Pick Be Stopped?

As usual, the major players are all silent on voicing their position on the nominee. If past actions are any indication, they'll only enter into the controversy if dragged kicking and screaming by the grassroots, which generally means too late to change the outcome. Their apologists may point to the recent setback on Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court confirmation, and come up with all kinds of excuses why the realpolitik course is avoidance. [More]

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes that ultimately, the answer to the title question rests with us.

Here's what it boils down to: If you and I do nothing, and accept confirmation as inevitable without lifting a finger to stop it, no, he can't be.

If you and I do something that requires very little time and effort, and then urge every gun owner we know to follow suit, there could be a chance.

Bloomberg on Meet the Press

Part of my promotional efforts for the Gun Rights Examiner columns is social networking. As such, I make attempts to outreach using stuff like Digg, Twitter, Facebook...the latter being probably the most useful because it allow for more meaningful interaction with other RKBA proponents.

The following is a post by Jake Syma on a recent Bloomberg media op that he addressed to John Pierce and me. I thought it was well stated and made an irrefutable point, and Jake has allowed me to share it here:
I don't know whether either of you caught it this morning... Michael Bloomberg (NY, NY) and Cory Booker (Newark, NJ) on MTP talking about (among other things) guns.

David Gregory threw an adulatory softball question at Bloomberg, asking about a "major victory" he recently scored over the NRA (regarding the Thune Amendment). He then allowed Bloomberg to talk a bit about the organization he's a part of, "Mayors Against Illegal Guns."

I quote him there to make the point that *they* made the point of stressing the org is not against GUNS, per se, but is only against ILLEGAL GUNS... never once considering the fact that killing the Thune Amendment would be "exceeding MAIG's charter," so to speak, if it was *only* against illegal guns... since the Thune Amendment wasn't *about* letting [so-called] "illegal guns" cross state lines.

Then there was more of the standard BS fare regarding the [so-called] "gun show loophole," but the response to that has gotten to the point that it's all "copy-and-paste" now (that is, boilerplate).

The "killing the Thune Amendment" portion may or may not be article-worthy, but I thought I'd at least pass it along.

Best,

Jake.
