Naming Names
As expected, if a bit later than expected, the Oregon legislature (well some Oregon legislators who don't want their names used) have introduced or drafted new anti-rights bills. Playing the Percentages
No specific numbers on how many of those guns "recovered in Mexico and traced back to the United States" were, in fact, military purchases, but the State Department cables indicate a portion of the fewer than 12 percent of the traceable weapons actually came from the United States in gun shop/individual type purchases. Remember, that's not 12 percent of the tens of thousands of weapons recovered - it's only 12 percent of the weapons recovered that were traceable. It's nowhere near the 12 percent figure that has been misquoted and used as evidence of the United State's "horrific" problem of illegal gun sales. Deportation raises questions for Grassley gun investigation
That is curious. Especially in the absence of information about who decided the Mexican nationals are not accessories (or even material witnesses), and how that was determined. After all, whether they were complicit to the shooting or not, they were illegally present at the scene of a crime in which a law enforcement officer was killed.Today's Gun Rights Examiner report wonders if everybody who needs to has had a chance to ask questions. Grassley to Holder: ATF refused to answer specific questions in briefing
This demonstrates the senator is serious about this and will not tolerate willful noncompliance. It also marks a serious miscalculation on the part of ATF bureaucrats and their Department of Justice handlers, and has produced what, for them, is no doubt the unintended consequence of steeling Grassley's resolve to pursue his investigation over all attempts to refuse cooperation. Charles Grassley’s staff regarding the “Project Gunrunner” sting operation that now appears to be linked to the murder of a federal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent. A Reasonable Gun Owner
Neil Dickson owns a gun. But he says there should be tighter regulations, more gun control laws. On Monday afternoon, he voiced that concern to his congressman, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4.Really, Neil? Anybody? Easily? Automatic?
"Ownership should be earned. It's a privilege," said Dickson, vice president and branch manager at Stamford First Bank. "Anybody can easily buy an automatic assault weapon. There should be required training and extensive background checks before people are allowed to own a gun." [More]

I just had an intimidation meeting with my local IRS agent. He is looking to put me in jail for failure to pay Social Security Taxes for the past two years totaling some $20,000 over the period of 2008-2010. I wondered why the Social Security Administration continued to hit the Guardians of Liberty website so long after all of the other Feds had left, now I know why.
