Heard it before--Robert Farago of TheTruth About Guns has been writing about a drug cartel connection for some time, so these folks shouldn't be claiming credit for being the only place you'll hear about this--and this is also not the first place to report the allegations from a guy with his head in the noose.
As an aside, I've also heard from an independent source that guns were going to Mexican "freedom fighters." I have no way to independently verify that, but supposedly Univision is going to be doing a report on this.
I agree that all documents from all times need to be investigated. I don't agree with the blanket claim that everyone else is wrong, especially with the level of actual evidence vs allegation I see these people building their report around. If they have insider sources feeding them any of this, they're keeping that pretty close to the vest.
I can only base what I write on stuff I have credible reason to believe.

So naturally it will go unnoticed by most and unpublicized by the "Authorized Journalists." And naturally, the ones bringing this to us in spite of that are struggling to keep the doors open.
A generality I've noticed: "We" have the grassroots. "They" don't. "They" have the financial backers. "We" don't.
There is a way around that--but it means "we" need to actually be personally willing to commit effort and treasure. Unfortunately, another generality I've noticed is that much of the professed support limits itself to making an occasional comment on a blog post--when it comes time to actually do something, be it to send a small donation or volunteer some time or send a letter or email, or even share a frickin' link, far too many figure somebody else is going to do it and the absence of their shoulder from the wheel won't be missed.
I wish I knew how to change that, but I don't. And I fear much suffering that could have been prevented will visit us all because of it.

I wouldn't even call it the best anti-gun propaganda, since what they're highlighting is obvious and transparent hooey, and note the two stories related to Gunwalker are Eban's "Fortune" piece and one from the Gray Lady milking the 90% meme for all its worth.
But it serves their purpose to promote these.
Just look at the list of luminaries behind the claim: Privileged elites all. Their "journalism advisory board" list is topped by "Jill Abramson, executive editor, The New York Times."
Make no mistake: Establishment media is not about to go gentle into that good night, and well-financed efforts like this are designed to dominate the public discourse.

‘Gun Laws by State’ provides valuable resource
The website is cool. It’s easy to navigate and explore. It has a ton of readily-accessible, logically-organized and presented information. You can learn about national and state transport and carry laws, or individual state statutes. You can drill down through an interactive map, which makes understanding reciprocity easy. And they even offer a blog, where more detailed information can be shared and discussed.Today's Gun Rights Examiner column reviews a resource I believe will give a lot of value to a lot of gun owners. I just got a report from someone in Tennessee that at least one movie theater is looking through bags and purses for firearms, and am curious about the legality of searching people in private establishments--and if doing so could be the basis for a lawsuit.
As I understand it, private membership stores like Sam's Club can, ON EXITING, check merchandise in the CART against receipts as part of an agreement you voluntarily sign, and if you don't allow it they can cancel your membership, but if any store open to the general public wants to look through your shopping bags WHEN LEAVING, you have the right to tell the employee to go pound sand. If they have strong enough suspicion you've stolen something, their only option is to call the cops--who you can again refuse giving search consent to, and it's up to them to determine if they have probable cause. And they and the store can be sued if it turns out they didn't.
I'm not sure what statutory provisions exist--and I imagine they'd vary state-to-state--for demanding a personal search as a condition of entry, and it sure seems like that could be challenged--especially if you've already purchased your ticket and it was not a clearly stated as a condition--or whether it's legal even if it was.
Understand that the report I got is, as yet, uncorroborated, so the intent here is not to gin up outrage over something that may not prove out. At this point, I'm strictly in information-gathering mode, and trying to find out if anyone else has heard of this occurring. I'll go back to my source and see if I can get more details on where this is reportedly happening, and if it's a specific chain. In the mean time, if you know of anyone doing this, please advise in "Comments."

I'd love to get my hands on the NBC emails and memos concerning their coverage and lack thereof, and know what prompted this sea change.
Still, "ill-fated gun tracing operation" could be more credibly replaced with "Underpants Gnome hunt."

If a champion athlete who is "a 6'4" 250-pound martial arts expert" deems he would be better protected with a gun, how much more would someone who can't match him physically benefit?

He'd already been arrested (and evidently released) twice before for robbery, had just victimized five more in a 24-hour span, and I submit if the "authoritahs" know a predator's in our midst, they're endangering public safety by not letting us know who he is.

Jury Reaches Verdict in Reese Case

So what the hell did they just put these people through hell over the last year for? And they're not out of the woods--per KVIA's Facebook page:
Remington Reese was acquitted on all counts.
On count one, conspiracy, Remington, Ryin Reese, Rick Reese, and Terri Reese were all found not guilty.
On counts two-10, providing false statements, Ryan was found guilty on two counts, Rick was found guilty of one count, and Terri was found guilty on one count.
On counts 11-28, gun smuggling charges, all were found not guilty.
Defense attorneys say they face a maximum of five years on each guilty count.First, now that things have been reduced to the ridiculous, the family needs to be immediately let out on bail and given time to reunite and recuperate as best they can from the anguish they've been through so that they can begin to prepare for the next phase in their defense. Then, I hope to see a vigorous and united appeal on the remaining charges, which would never have happened in the first place had they not been persecuted over, based on the evidence, nothing.
