There's an App for That
Every once in a while the ACLU does good in spite of the ultimate goals behind their actions. [Watch]
Yeah, the white cop and the black hand is pretty blatant and intentionally inciting. But, as we know from the gun issue, it's not the tool, it's the person and the intent behind wielding it.
They may be rolling this out state by state as I did not find the video on their national site (which, admittedly, I found a somewhat confusing place to navigate without spending more time) and search returns appear to hit specific states like Missouri and California. If anyone knows more, please educate the rest of us in comments.
Free downloads are available at the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. Unfortunately for me, there's nothing available on the Old Pull-Start Model Clamshell Store.

Irony
In his order, Judge Benjamin Settle acknowledged that “The Court is sympathetic to Plaintiffs in that one must actually be prosecuted or under actual or immediate threat of prosecution before the Court may address the constitutionality of a statute.” The judge further observed that “the fairness of this rule may definitely be questioned…” [More]So in other words, the key to obtaining standing will be through the new paradigm? And that may require defending "I will not comply" activists instead of publicly agreeing with the antis by dismissing them as "stupid extremists" whose "childish theater" makes the more mainstream "look foolish"...?

Documents point to 'smart gun' developer's ouster at Armatix
A balance sheet appearing on a German government website for Armatix GmbH, the German company behind the controversial iP1 “smart” handgun, shows significant financial losses. Further, a German journalist has provided Gun Rights Examiner with documents purporting to show gun developer and Managing Director Ernst Mauch is not only no longer with the company, but that he has been banned from its facilities under threat of a criminal complaint. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes not all problems can be solved with gadgetry.

The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates

They have the standard "Contact your Senators" link to a pre-written letter, which I sent, but which still leaves some with the non-choice of writing to politicians in safe seats who don't give a damn and there's nothing you can do to change that.
To reach more reasonable politicians who nonetheless limit their contact forms to state and district constituents on their official sites, I recommend sending them messages via social media, which imposes no such restrictions. After all, what they vote on affects all of us, and it's not like they refuse donations from out-of-staters. So it would be very helpful to contact those senators who appear to be persuadable, in this case, every one rated "C" and higher by GOA.
Yes, it would be nice if someone had such a compilation available for us, and yes, it will take half an hour or so to do this. It would be nicer if a gun rights advocacy group or an independent activist took it on themselves to develop a tool to facilitate this.
Maybe if more of us understood we have a resource that's not being effectively utilized, and made known a demand for such a tool, we'd see an incentive to create one. You'd better believe the Bolsheviks understand the value of virtual "community organizing."

Guest Editorial
Senator Wolk’s SB 707 endangers our schools [More]Mike Wood is taking advantage of a forum too few gun owners even consider, let alone do anything about: Getting the truth out in front of a readership that normally only sees one side.
I've long advocated that gun owners write op-ed pieces and even shorter letters to the editor. The only caution is to first make sure editorial guideline requirements are understood, such as word limits, and consider some basic tips for upping the likelihood of getting published.
This type of activism is rewarding and fun. I encourage everyone who posts comments on blogs, in forums and on social media to put some of that knowledge and passion into productive outreach efforts like we see here.
There's one other thing we can do: When you put something out there under your own name, you're in a very real sense putting yourself out there. I note the editorial takes comments. I'd like to see some supportive ones.
You Don't Have to Be a Prophet to Predict Pushback
PAMELA GELLER CALLS OUT COWARDLY CONSERVATIVES, SAYS SHE’LL ORGANIZE ANOTHER FREE SPEECH EVENT IN NEAR FUTURE [More]Yeah, except lost amidst all the noise is that an event in which the promoters could and should have predicted trouble was done under these prohibitions:
I view that as inexcusably irresponsible on the part of those who knew this would be considered provocation and a dare, and naive (at best) on the part of the attendees. Setting aside debates about the merits of the ceremony, which you inarguably should be able to do, if you're going to hold such a gathering under what you know are elevated threat conditions, you don't do it in a way that limits defensive response options.

Making Sense of Robert J. Spitzer
We've learned this lesson before, in our own violent past, when strict regulation of concealed gun carrying was the near-universal and successful response to gun violence. [More]Gosh, and what better way to prove your point than by turning to past prohibitions as an example of "success"?
See, prohibition and bans are what he's really after -- his "stand your ground" ploy is just an entry point. He doesn't like concealed carry? Now ask him how he feels about open carry. And "gun free zones." And semi-autos. And registration. And licensing. And gun ownership in general.

The unintended consequence of this is more edicts are passed where the old paradigm fails, establishing conditions for the new paradigm to take root and grow.

Of course Pedro and the Bloombergians know NRA hardly endorses "guns for anyone, anywhere -- no questions asked." They know NRA has been taken to task many times by hard core gun rights advocates for compromises and deviations from "shall not be infringed." Lying doesn't bother them because they know they can get away with it -- the useful idiots they are exploiting will neither know better nor care if they did.
Here's something else Pedro knows, something that appears to have "eluded" NRA and SAF/CCRKBA and every other gun organization with the exception of GOA --how "amnesty" and a "pathway to citizenship" will enable "progressives" to establish unchallengeable electoral majorities, to include "gun control" legislation and sympathetic court confirmations:
Pedro and Everytown and the "progressive" Obamanoids are neither fooled nor slowed down for a minute by the phony "single issue" excuse used by the establishment gun groups for avoiding engaging on the most important threat affecting the continued legislative and judicial disposition toward the right to keep and bear arms. They know the issues are inseparable, and are designed to achieve a single goal. As a matter of fact, they're counting on the "gun lobby" continuing to suck up to the Republican establishment, and especially pleased when they see how many bloviating ignoramus gun owners defend the fraudulent separation.
Forget "single issue." Think "single goal."
Not that I think anyone besides a few of us marginalized malcontents will, and even fewer will do anything about. Pedro knows he can count on abdication, denial and apathy. And based on results, I don't disagree with him.

The great aim on the other side is to open Trade and Intercourse, Mine the Removal of all the British Forces and to put the Citizens of New York in immediate possession of their City, Port and Harbour, these must go hand in hand, when both are accomplished, I shall begin to think We are at Peace; Trade will find its Way even blindfold. Novelist’s violent wishes exemplify ‘progressive’ paradox on guns and more
“People keep saying, 'We need to have a conversation about race,’” Morrison said. “This is the conversation. I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back. And I want to see a white man convicted for raping a black woman. Then when you ask me, 'Is it over?’, I will say yes.” [More]This evening's Gun Rights Examiner report notes nothing quite says "repression" like one of Obama's Presidential Freedom Medal recipients.

Oregon ivory ban bill puts gun and knife owners in undefined legal danger
Bill author Haas could not define how you measure volume-based content on a gun (or on a piano), nor was a "legal" way for documenting an item predating 1976 specified. Again Haas deferred, saying that would be "up to law enforcement." [More]This morning's Gun Rights Examiner report notes just because an incompetently-written ban contains laughable absurdities doesn't mean citizens found in violation will see the humor.
We're the Only Ones Not Ready for Our Close-Up Enough
A 25-foot buffer? So if you illegally confront me or someone I'm with or near, and I turn my recorder on, you can bust me for it? And use an escalating continuum of force up to lethal and have it officially justified...? [More]

No, Of Course He Doesn't Mean Christian Bakers Can Start Burning Things
Non-violence is a type of political performance designed to raise awareness and win over sympathy of those with privilege. When those on the outside of struggle—the white, the wealthy, the straight, the able-bodied, the masculine—have demonstrated repeatedly that they do not care, are not invested, are not going to step in the line of fire to defend the oppressed, this is a futile political strategy. It not only fails to meet the needs of the community, but actually puts oppressed people in further danger of violence. [More]See, just as only whites can be racists, only those WITHOUT "privilege," as subjectively defined by domestic enemies, can legitimately engage in acts of violence, looting and arson, plus justify them as "self-defense."
