I get why gun owners have given this over 5M views. It would be nice to see something making the case for freedom get as many or more.

I can't help but think of this:

I’m reminded of a rally I participated in many years ago, when I lived in Southern California—the Million Moms had a rally in front of the federal building in LA’s Westwood neighborhood (interestingly, we were in front of a veteran’s cemetery), with moneyed special interests busing numbers in, naturally, and our folks set up a line across the street. Out of the entire Los Angeles area, we only got about 250 supporters to join us throughout the day, never all there at the same time. It was especially appalling, because a week or so earlier, 40,000 managed to drag themselves to the Pomona Fairgrounds for the largest gun show in the west.

Cases in point, and I know different states have different rules, but I can't help thinking about David A. Kozycki removing his badge and taping over his shoulder patch, or perhaps more to the point, the suspension of Leroy Pyle:

Some police chiefs have attempted to suppress dissenting voices in their department. For example, in San Jose, former police chief Joseph McNamara wrote fund-raising letters for Handgun Control, Inc., on official city stationary, and claimed to represent what "every police officer" believed. In 1989, one of McNamara's officers, a firearms instructor named Leroy Pyle, was subpoenaed by the California legislature and legally required to testify before that body. Officer Pyle did so, on his own time, and out of uniform. The next day, Pyle was suspended from duty, and McNamara attempted to fire him.

I'd love to see someone with knowledge on these matters address the points raised  by Patrick Moore in the featured article, and then do something about them. Because if there's one group I'd like to see get what's coming to them, it's oath-breakers.

The City of Phoenix has "No Guns" signs on its buses that it's not authorized to enforce.

This is from a Yahoo group that I'm not a member of, so the link won't work for you unless you are. Here's how they're saying the city responded to an inquiry about the signs:

Mr. Jones:

You recently inquired about a sign on our buses. The sign depicts various visuals and is intended to address the improper use of items such as weapons on our buses. Guns are and have been allowed on our buses. It is only when there is misconduct involving guns that the authorities are
notified. We have very few incidents, but the signs are intended to remind passengers that guns must be handled appropriately. We appreciate your concern regarding the rights that we all have in our community. If you see anything on one of our public transit buses that you believe is contrary to what I state here, we want to know. Please feel free to email or call me at the number below.

Anti-gun politicians use the anti-gun shrink establishment to infringe on RKBA, all in the nebulous name of "public safety." And once you're on the watchlist, good luck getting off. 

I don't see a bill number or an author/sponsor name, nor anything here yet, and a cursory search comes up empty. I just ran across this and already have my priorities for the day calling, so I'll see if a Colorado contact can point us to more details.

UPDATE: This *may* be the bill. If so, it passed the Democrat-dominated House and has been introduced in the Senate, and it looks like two Republicans, Cadman and Scheffel,  co-sponsored it with two Democrats. Am I reading this right?  Were they the two "excused"votes? If so, what kind of game is being played here?

We shouldn't have to guess, and our "pro-gun leaders," and by that I mean office holders and advocacy groups, should be the first ones getting relevant vital information out to us, rather than forcing inquiring minds to go around, over, under and through gatekeeper paywalls just to find out what's going on in the "people's houses."

And how come the linked "study" refers to "high income countries" in its citation?  Is that synonymous with "developed"?  Can't be too careful using precise terminology in studies, you know.

Because the source for the cite further qualifies things as "23 populous high-income Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development countries that provided data to the World Health Organization for 2003."

So we're not even current but we're still coming up with new conclusions? And it's only those that reported to WHO? This is starting to remind me of the "Mexican crime guns" scam-- first it was 95% came from U.S. gun shops and it whittled its way down to 70% of those recovered and reported, which ended up being something like 17% in one report I saw, which again had no correlation with the full auto stuff, grenades, etc. coming in from Guatemala and points unknown.

Then, of course, we need to break our own internal numbers down further and see how many domestic problems came from which population, and lo and behold- - I'll bet you could look at the stats for NRA members, arguably the most armed to the teeth civilian population on the planet, and our rates would approach statistical insignificance.

Fallen Gladiator

He lived a few blocks from where I used to in Manhattan Beach. I got to know him from when I worked with him for a few years on fundraising with fireworks. He was helping low-income kids get martial arts training along with the needed discipline and caring adult guidance that went with it.

He wasn't just muscle. He handled the books for that nonprofit, had an MBA and at one time was going for a doctorate in economics.

I'd lost touch with him, fewer than a dozen emails over the years, but got a pleasant jolt watching the Star Trek reboot, when the security guard he played confronted Simon Pegg's "Scotty" and I immediately recognized who it was. That's pretty surreal if it's totally outside your life experience -- to go to the movies and suddenly see a closeup of someone you know on the screen. At least that's my excuse for exclaiming "That's Lee!"
