VANISHING ACT
Stalinist Propaganda Tactics of the Gun-Banners

Art historian David King's The Commissar Vanishes: The Falsification of Photographs and Art in Stalin's Russia provides graphic evidence of a key disinformation technique used by the infamous tyrant, the erasure of disfavored individuals from the memory of the collective.

Quite simply, photographs were retouched to eliminate any evidence that a purge victim ever existed, the same picture being revised again and again as new unfortunates fell into official disapproval. In a macabre real-life version of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians, the cover of King's book shows four versions of the same photograph, the number of people in it dwindling with progressive edits down to a solo portrait of Comrade Stalin.

The methodology for creating (or rather, obliterating) what Orwell called "unpersons" in his nightmare vision of totalitarian domination, 1984, reached new levels of bald-faced outrageousness under the Soviet despot's brutal rule. That is, until the advent of the latter-day gun grabbers.

It's not surprising that gun control advocates have adopted deception to cover their tracks and remove evidence of affiliations that could expose their hypocrisies. After all, these are the people who, as proven by Aaron Zelman and Jay Simkin in Gun Control: Gateway to Tyranny, translated Nazi gun laws into the 1968 Gun Control Act–and do you really think that anyone who embraces Nazi laws would blanch from using Stalinist methods to get what they want? These are the liars who would corrupt the intent of the Constitution and disarm their countrymen. And these subversives deserve our contempt and resistance as surely as if they openly advocated the rest of the dictatorial agenda they are enabling.

Strong words? Aren't I being a little rough on people who simply hold a different political view than I? Let's walk through this and do a little experiment by examining an elementary question: How do you know if someone is lying?

Obviously, you look at what they say, and then you compare it to what they do. If there's a disconnect between the two, Bingo! Simple, right? So when Orrin Hatch or Trent Lott make noises about supporting the Second Amendment, and then turn around and endorse anti-gun legislation, you have every right to assume that you have just been betrayed. When they rationalize it as necessary to forestall even more draconian legislation, what they're really saying is they want to see how stupid you are, and how much you'll let them get away with. And when they tell you that a vote against them is a vote for someone who will really hurt you, they have committed the political equivalent of date rape, counting on your being too bewildered and powerless to do anything about it. Historically, they've been right 999 out of a thousand times, and by the way, you'd better put some ice on that.

The guy who is the master at this is Bill Clinton, possibly the most accomplished liar in a tradition dating back to the first shaman who ever duped his way into power. So when he tells you that it's paranoid to worry about the camel's nose under the tent, and that he only wants "to save kids' lives," you would do well to look at what his Justice Department argued in the current Emerson case, i.e., "it is well settled" that the Second Amendment is not an individual right. In other words, if you compare what he says to what he does, there's no other conclusion but the guy is lying to you and rejecting your claim to an unalienable right–by denying it was ever a right in the first place. Could any but an idiot or a lying apparatchik zealot characterize the motives of someone who would do this as benign?

If you're going to consistently deceive the masses, it helps to have the media on your side. If nothing else it's what they don't report that gives aid and comfort to the anti-defense lobby as much the outright falsehoods and naked socialist advocacy that they foist on the public as news.

Case in point: suppose (hypothetically, now!) that someone prominent in the "gun culture," say, Tom Selleck, murderously assaulted Charlton Heston and then threatened to return and finish him off. If I could document such an attack, do you think that anti-defense media outlets like The Los Angeles Times would restrain themselves from pointing out the "gun extremist" tie-in? Do you doubt that the association with "the culture of violence" would be exploited with fervor and glee?

So if the same thing happened on the other side, you'd at least hear about the connection, right? No? You never heard that WHEN HE'S NOT MAKING DEATH THREATS, LATRELL SPREWELL IS A LEADING SPOKESMAN FOR GUN CONTROL?

Contemplate the following that I wrote back in December, 1997, at the height of Sprewell's notoriety–which certainly made it timely and newsworthy. My writing limitations notwithstanding, all of the information was documented with referenced sources, and then made available to the aforementioned LA Times, which wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. It's original title was "Catch a Falling STAR," but I now like to think of this as "The Story That Never Was" :

The Converse STAR Team Program, according to Handgun Control, Inc., "is the nation's PREMIER gun violence prevention program…designed to help youth…manage problems, such as conflict…non-violently without guns." Described as a "joint effort of Converse, Inc. and Center to Prevent Handgun Violence (CPHV)," STAR program materials are being taught in grades Pre-K through 12 "in over 70 municipalities nationwide, including…New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dade County (FL)."

Leading the list of "prominent athletes [who] serve as spokespersons for the program" is none other than Latrell Sprewell! Spree (which my dictionary defines as "an unrestrained indulgence") demonstrated his ability to "engage in creative expression and leadership" by throttling Golden State Warriors coach P.J. Carlesimo, and, after being pulled off, returned to attack his boss again, this time threatening to kill him.

Describing himself as "a good person" who "never had a situation like this come up before," Spree insists that he is being treated unfairly. He complains we never see him smile. He doesn't think his punishment is warranted. Jumping to his defense is anti-gun San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, who suggests that, "Maybe the coach deserved choking."

If this is true, might Mr. Sprewell still be an effective voice to teach our youth "gun violence prevention messages and strategies"? Actually, if you look at his past behavior, he seems to provide an excellent illustration of the need to carry a gun, if for no other reason than as a defense against himself.

Case in point– two years ago, he went after teammate Jerome Kersey with a 2-by-4. His reaction after being restrained? He threatened to return with a gun! Sounds like the perfect "prominent voice [to] highlight solutions to America's escalating crisis of handgun violence," doesn't he?

And in 1995, the same year he joined the Converse STAR Team, Oakland police officer Scott Fakuda reported that Sprewell threatened him over a traffic incident, telling him, "You can be shot real easy and people get shot out here." Charges were dropped only because the Alameda County D.A. believed the comments lacked "credibility and immediacy as a righteous threat." What is not known is if Willie Brown thinks maybe the cop deserved shooting.

Something else that's not known is why Spree's HCI connection has not been covered by anyone in the media. I compiled the information needed to write this piece in under two hours. Where were the major players? Could anyone credibly argue that, in light of recent events, Sprewell's endorsement of gun control is not newsworthy?

This is the astounding hypocrisy which the gun banners and their corporate, political, education and media accessories apply to everything they do. How dare CPHV and Converse hold this violent misfit up to our children as someone to be heeded and emulated? A group truly interested in the welfare of kids would have recalled the program materials after the incident in 1995. But apparently, the money this would cost takes precedence over doing the right thing.

Latrell Sprewell can teach my kids nothing– as a matter of fact, I don't want them subjected to his influence in any manner. It's time he and his promoters got sidelined from our schools for good.

Now here's the kicker–what ties this in with Stalinist propaganda of the first order: shortly after making this story available to the media, Sprewell's name was deleted from the list of STAR celebrities. I don't know if this reflects a tip-off or not, but the coincidence of timing is certainly curious. Also, were this simply a reflection of his being booted off the STAR team, as Converse publicly did when they removed him as a product spokesman, such a deletion would be legitimate. But the erasure did not occur until 1998, and the list they modified purported to be the roster from 1995 to 1997!

In other words, HCI went into their promotional materials and REWROTE HISTORY, removing someone who could turn out to be a public embarrassment from the record. The Commissar, I mean, the Converse STAR vanishes.

But then, deception has ever been the stock in trade of those who would take away our rights. And to mistake their core motives as anything but evil would be a grave mistake.

Consider the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the domestic arm of Socialist International (Stalin, you'll recall, led the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, whereas Hitler headed up the National Socialist Party). Basically, these are the folks who want to supplant freedom with a plague that has produced tyranny, misery and genocide since it first broke out. In another time, we would have called them "Nazis" or "Commies." Now, more often than most people realize, we call them "Congressman."

For affiliated with the DSA is an entity known as "The Progressive Caucus," 58 of the most rabidly left-wing politicians to ever menace the future of the Republic. These are people like David Bonior and Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel, Barney Frank and Henry Waxman. And importantly, one of the things they share with our former president is a contempt for the Second Amendment. Because they know that every tyranny that ever beat its subjects into dehumanized submission had first to disarm them, rendering them subservient and helpless.

And lest you think I'm overly alarmist, I'd like to offer a final bit of cheer from the good folks over at the DSA and their Progressive Caucus executors.

Do you like songs? So does the DSA, so much that they have devoted a page on their website to hymns glorifying their "struggle" (i.e., what Hitler called Mein Kampf ). The following in particular should be of special interest, since the people they're talking about, the "bourgeoisie," are you and me! And they really explain (better than anything I could say) why the socialists need to take away our guns. Ready? All together now:

EPILOG:

The Democratic Socialists of America have removed "Are You Sleeping, Bourgeoisie" and "Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie, See How They Run" from their website. No evidence that the songs were ever posted remains. They have vanished without a trace, as if they never existed at all.

We're the Only Ones Lowering Our Standards Enough

Changes to the demanding admissions tests for the Los Angeles Police Department's SWAT team that could make the elite unit more accessible to women have caused an uproar among some current officers — and their wives.

..."It's not just about strength," said Margaret Moore, the former assistant special agent in charge at the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms special response team, which carries out search warrants in violent parts of Washington, D.C.

True, Margaret. That's probably nowhere near as important as an institutionalized "Only Ones" mentality, a sadistic, vindictive streak that gets off on destruction and control, a willingness to lie under oath, and an abiding contempt for and fear of armed and free citizens.

If it were possible, I'd ask BATFU to please, continue lowering standards.

The more out of shape, easily winded and fatter, the better.

...Agreeing with Captain Hesse, and chastising Lloyd's List for editorially suggesting otherwise, is Captain John Dalby of Marine Risk Management, a "maritime asset recovery and protection" company. While admitting "It is the sailors... who are being kidnaped, beached, set adrift ... or summarily killed," he warns that "only tragedy will result from inexperienced people trying to fight fire with fire. Leave intervention and reaction to those who are best equipped and trained for it."

But don't worry, men of the Le Ponant.

Charlton Heston, RIP

Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84.

He didn't have to put it on the line. But he did. I will always respect him for that.

A former prison guard romantically involved with one of the two inmates she helped escape pleaded guilty Friday to a federal firearms charge, telling family members she now realizes she was used.

So just to be clear, commies support gun control and hate religion, but are not above employing useful idiots to help them achieve their goals--and they won't be able to kill an armed populace with guns and knives--at least without meeting resistance. And we must not forget that some who appear to be useful idiots--say clerics who elevate secular Marxist dogma over the theological and defy church authority and get away with it--may, in fact, be committed Fifth Columnists.

But we do all see why they want us disarmed, right? For once can we do them the honor of believing them?

The Great Greensburg Gun Grab

I would like to start this report by noting that I have personally spoke with several sources who were directly involved in the incidents that I am about to report that took place in Greensburg, KS in the aftermath of the horrible CAT 5 tornado that ravaged and destroyed that town. I will not be divulging their names in this article as they have requested I not do so...

Guns and ammunition that were collected were taken to a trailer and an ATF agent manned the trailer. When people first came to collect their guns they were asked for proof of ownership such as receipts and serial number lists and they had to fill out a 4473 and get a NICS approval before they could claim their guns. No one had paperwork, receipts, or lists of serial numbers because it had all blown away.

I have not investigated any of this and offer it as raw information.

Throwing Weight at Wikipedia

I just got the following email from "Tim":

Wikipedia is widely used by especially younger generations, and the page on the right to keep and bear arms sports the collectivist title, "right to bear arms." There is a comment in the discussion section mentioning that the title is not a neutral point of view (NPOV), but unless a lot of weight is thrown into the ring, the title will maintain its collectivist slant.

I bring this to your attention because Wikipedia is the second Google result for 'keep and bear arms' and also for 'bear arms,' and also because Wikipedia is so commonly, yet improperly, relied upon for reliable information. And, well, I have no audience. If you think it's worth encouraging people to correct this error in Wikipedia, I hope you give it a mention.

I don't have the knowledge or the time to edit their entries, but if someone knows how and is so inclined...

Cavalry Arms Update: Taping the Halves Together

At that time the inspector submitted the two halves of the receiver to Firearms Technology Branch. Firearms Technology Branch determined the two halves were a gun as soon as they were in the same location because someone could tape them together and make a firearm that fired at least one round.

First they tell them they can, then they tell them they can't. Then they monitor activities so they know nothing is being hidden, then they raid them for a violation. Jed has the story, direct from AR15.com.

Destroy someone over a technicality they created. Typical for these mutant apes.

So, according to their standard, would anyone possessing a length of pipe, a hammer and a .22 round be guilty of illegal firearms manufacture and possession? I wouldn't want to try it, but I'll bet you could make that meet the criteria, that is, fire "at least one round," and I'll bet it would be a whole lot safer than taping two receiver halves together (what kind of moron would try that?) Heck, a cartridge in a campfire is all you need.

BATFU, under "Maximum Mike" Sullivan and the "Vote Freedom First President" may be out of control with incompetence, but I think the evidence points toward them being drunk on authority, hungry for more, and steeped in hatred and lust for vengeance.

I think the slavering jackals can just about taste the power boost they'll get with a democrat win in November. I think they're so excited they are peeing down their legs.

Sociopaths like these will not back down unless someone makes them. I've been trying to use "the system" to do so, that is, by giving exposure to their thuggery to create public pressure to rein them in, and also by writing my legislators.

I just got back the standard "As you may be aware, President Bush nominated Michael Sullivan" form letter from that dolt George Voinovich. Yeah, no sh**, Georgie-Boy, that's why I wrote you, you dithering "moderate republican" moron.

Unless more gun owners realize the seriousness of this and get involved, the pressure will simply not be there to make them back off--while at the same time, the squeezing from BATFU will increase.

I fear the efforts of people like me to resolve this through the First Amendment are doomed to fail. Which means I fear a reaction from someone who is tired of being pushed based on frustration and anger.

I fear that will provide a convenient excuse for a crushing response. And I fear that's exactly what the malevolent intelligences directing the meathead thugs are counting on.

What I fear most is that "our side" will decide the right prescription for that is more "pragmatism."

Missouri law prohibits O'Connor from being charged with a felony because he is a law enforcement officer, according to a statement by Ed Postawko, chief warrant officer for the circuit attorney's office.

Here's another account that just adds insult to injury:

" A civilian in similar circumstances could have been charged with unlawful use of a weapon. State law makes it a felony when a person "exhibits, in the presence of one or more persons, any weapon readily capable of lethal use in an angry or threatening manner."

Police officers have been exempt from prosecution for that violation for some time. In 2003, legislators included off-duty police officers in the exemption.

That seems ripe for challenge under "the supreme law of the land's" equal protection guarantee. Or it would be in nation where justice mattered.

Getting the Lead Out

Thousands of pounds of venison donated to food pantries this year has become a contentious gift in three states.

Officials in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa warn that the meat could be contaminated by lead from bullets. Hunting groups are calling it an overreaction.

I remember reading that the only time it is appropriate etiquette to put your fingers in your mouth in the presence of the Queen of England is when dining with her on game fowl, removing lead shot and placing it on the side of your plate. I know when I did, I was mortified to not realize my pinkie should have also been extended.

Y'know, as long as you do that and don't chew and swallow the shot, I kind of suspect it'll be OK...

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was arrested at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 Thursday for allegedly spitting at a police officer, Sky News television reported....

In 2000, Campbell pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating an assistant...

In January 2007, Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for throwing her mobile phone at her maid...

That must be why she's such a devotee of "man of the proletariat" Hugo Chavez.

It also probably explains why she wouldn't want her employees to have access to tools of self defense. And joins Tupac (Now, jump out the car then I open fire, sucka! Hahahaha, Thug Life!) afficianados to "rap for gun control." And demanded a "bullet-proof car."

The Finest Voters Money Can Buy

As former President Bill Clinton was extolling his wife's credentials, Obama's campaign office in Bloomington began giving away tickets to Sunday's Dave Matthews concert at Assembly Hall.

Ah, the time-honored tradition of buying votes. Can you imagine giving someone the power of Set in exchange for a concert ticket? And I'm just talking morality here, not legality. And remember, these attendees will cancel out 8,000 gun owner votes.

To get her gun bill through the first legislative skirmish, state Sen. Karen Johnson needed to scratch language that would have let people carry concealed weapons on public K-12 campuses in Arizona.

Now, the Mesa Republican says she will have to give up more ground in the battle over her divisive proposal if it has any chance of surviving in the state Legislature.

And at the end of it all there may be a special sticker, and those least qualified will be empowered to dictate storage policy.

But I will concede it's "pragmatic" and the only thing that can be done with any hope of political success. The only alternative, besides surrender, is for "absolutists" to carry in defiance of evil disarmament edicts. If enough did, this discussion would be irrelevant.

But we all know enough won't.

Ocala Folla-Up

The Ocala City Council on Tuesday cited protection of the Second Amendment and confidence in the police department when it nixed a citizen-proposed ordinance aimed at outlawing the firing BB and pellet gums [sic] within the city limits.

The story doesn't mention anything about Ocala gun rights activists attending and speaking, so it looks like this was probably a wasted effort.

Did anyone show up?

The good news is, it looks like the council knows what the right thing to do is and then does it.

What remains to be seen is if any of their consitutents will recognize that and thank them for it. Or is it just human nature not to appreciate what you've got until it's gone?

The Enemy of the Good

I can't help but note that many gungrabbers reserve particular contempt for RKBA folks who have actually done quite a bit to accommodate them through negotiation, compromise and "pragmatism" advocacy. I also can't help but note that many "pragmatists" in turn reserve particular contempt for "absolutists."

Curious. Especially since they are invariably the ones who rail against "eating our own" and "circular firing squads," meaning you need to agree with them, I guess, and if you don't, you must be scorned.

Maybe it has to do with the underlying mantra that "the perfect is the enemy of the good." They actually believe that, or say they do, although I'm not sure they've thought through all the implications.

I can't help but wonder though, if someone is willing to compromise on fundamental rights, what else are they willing to cede ground on? If we accept lies and betrayals from our oath-swearing representatives, would we not be equally forgiving with errant business partners or wandering spouses?

Can you imagine a quality policy that disparaged the concept of "Zero Defects"? Would you like to ride on tires made by such a company? Or how about undergo surgery from a hospital with the motto "Close enough for government work"? And do you think there's a reason that statement is considered a truism, but nonetheless a grim joke?

Ah, but "politics is the art of the possible," we are told, although how anyone falling back on that excuse instead of pushing the envelope would know the limits of possibility is never quite clear.

Oh well. Some of us, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers, will still plod on with the naive, perhaps hopeless belief that there is room in the debate for "shall not be infringed," and that the problem is not that we have too many "radical" voices, but too few.

Hundreds of Chicago Public School students are expected to converge on the James R. Thompson Center Tuesday morning, urging state legislators to enact stiffer gun laws after a student was killed in the parking lot of the Simeon Career Academy on Saturday.

More than 400 Simeon students will be bused by the district to attend the protest outside the Thompson Center, which houses Illinois state offices. Students from other schools such as Jones College Prepatory High School are also expected, officials said.

Ah, an appeal based totally on emotion by the most ignorant and inexperienced among us, designed to further restrict unalienable rights! And "Public Schools chief" Arne Duncan makes the agenda clear, just in case anyone needs something to throw in the face of those who call the "slippery slope" paranoia:

Of course he means for someone else go about that task.

And, of course, they somehow have the money for this at a time when "The state is looking at a $750 million deficit" and the state board of education is slashing funds for education while pouring them into pork projects. Oklahoma Colleges Welcome School Shooters

After strong protests, Oklahoma Senate leaders decided Monday to shelve a bill to allow military veterans and others with firearms training to carry concealed weapons on college campuses.

University presidents, faculty members and students had loudly opposed the measure, which sponsors said would improve campus security. Educators said it would have the opposite effect.

University of Oklahoma President David Boren had argued the bill would hurt recruitment of students and faculty. It also would pose a dilemma for police trying to determine whether a person wielding a weapon was a "deranged gunman or someone who thinks he is doing good vigilante work."

Well, yeah. Besides, how are you going to be considered as a potential Bloomberg running mate if you don't view self defense as "vigilante work"? And as long as we can keep our recruitment efforts unsullied by icky guns, we can always get fresh bloo...uhh, replaceme...uhh, new students and faculty.

But don't worry, Okies--particularly those of you who can demonstrate training, dicipline and a track record in proper firearms use. If any school shooters do show up on one of your campuses, David Boren'll stop 'em. He or one of those "university presidents, faculty members and students" who presume authority and competence to make such choices for you.

Victims of Discrimination

During the past three weeks, a network of about 30 black women bloggers have been blistering Sharpton and the local NAACP for coddling the black teenagers accused taking a neighborhood woman at gunpoint into her West Palm Beach home, raping her and forcing her to have sex with her own pre-teen son.

Earlier this month, Sharpton stood in front of the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office with local NAACP officials and relatives of the accused Dunbar Village rapists to complain that these teenage boys are victims of racial discrimination.

Yeah, no wonder Snuffy pal Al and the NAACP (shouldn't that be NAAPC?) are such disarmament advocates. Poor little misunderstood guys never had a chance.

NRA: Arm the Teachers!

FAIRFAX: Reversing almost nine years of policy advocacy, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre has repudiated his earlier pronouncement that "we believe in absolutely gun-free, zero-tolerance, totally safe schools. That means no guns in America's schools, period ... with the rare exception of law enforcement officers or trained security personnel."

"I was wrong," LaPierre now writes in the April 1 issue of "America's First Freedom Magazine."

Later May Be Too Late

If we believe that the Declaration of Independence is correct and we are "endowed" with "unalienable" rights, including the Second Amendment, then those rights come from a source beyond and superior to the state and as such can only be relinquished to the state by our own craven acts of mental and physical capitulation.

NJ Intent on Destroying Sarco

Sarco Inc., one of the nation's largest wholesale and retail suppliers of firearms and parts, is in danger of losing its state license to sell weapons because of alleged lax security measures.

Sarco's state license to operate was supposed to expire on Monday, but a Superior Court judge in Morristown last week extended the license until this Friday, when he said he would hear arguments on whether Sarco owner Charles Steen should have it renewed for another three years.

I've been holding up commenting about this thread from Gunboards.com since the weekend. I wanted to verify it before spreading what might just be a destructive rumor, so I called Sarco yesterday morning. The lady I spoke with told me the person I needed to talk with was unavailable, so I left my information and requested a call back, which never happened. Considering their legal position, it's understandable that they'll want to keep their cards held in close.

This news story confirms what was discussed on the forum--a former employee stole around 50 firearms. Gee, no wonder missing guns are "showing up in places they shouldn't." And now it looks like bigger thieves are set on victimizing the supplier again. The police state of New Jersey seems to have found a way to influence the national supply chain and destroy a business they hate, all in one stroke.

There is one silver lining: they could not have obtained a better attorney for navigating the labyrinth of New Jersey "gun laws."

Bartering Away Rights at U of A

The Rev. James D. McCathan of Duryee Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church says he's heard the crackle of gunfire in the driveway and on a nearby street corner....

Gun owners will be given two months to turn in illegal weapons at several locations, McCathan said. He said the other two phases of the program, which he declined to elaborate upon, will be unveiled in June and September.

Sometimes these meetings require you to fill out a card or form if you wish to speak during public comments, so check with the clerk to make sure you'll be recognized.

Gun owners at council meetings can be great fun, a chance to network, pass out flyers, and to reinforce that activism and numbers can make a difference, plus it's always nice to overwhelm the opposition with numbers. Besides, what the heck else is happening on Tuesday afternoon?

PA GOP "Moderates" Screw Gun Owners

Nine Philadelphia-area Republicans signaled last week they would break ranks with their caucus today and support handgun-control legislation when the state House of Representatives resumes debate on a controversial proposal.

The measure, which would require reporting handguns that are lost or stolen, has been vigorously pushed by Democrats in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as a "common sense" restriction that would reduce gun violence.

Bull. It won't do a damned thing to "reduce gun violence"and these idiots know it. If they don't, they shouldn't be trusted with matches or pointy objects.

As a matter of fact, "prohibited persons," that is, criminals will be the "only ones" exempted from the requirement, since forcing them to report they had illegally possessed a gun would violate their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

How about some "common sense politician control" for a change?

Naturally, the bill's sponsor, democrat Rep. David Levdansky bills himself as "an avid hunter."

It's past time gun owners stopped letting republicans betray them and still get elected. If you agree, tell them so--and let them know this betrayal will be remembered if and when they run for future office for the rest of their miserable political lives.

Gray Anderson, the Mayor of Jericho, is at a 'constitutional convention' for the Allied States of America. He's chatting in an elevator with another delegate. The delegate says there was a 20 minute orientation, an hour round table discussion, a two hour lunch, a 1000 member 'town hall' meeting and boom, no more Second Amendment. Gray says that it would be easier to 'pacify' the country if the people can't shoot back'. WOW! This has NEVER been stated on any other show so bluntly. Let me tell you about Jericho.

I've been pretty hard on TV lately, but make no secret that I watch it myself and enjoy it--when I can find the time. Like anything else, I think it's up to the individual to decide whether they are in control of things or whether things control them.

I've heard of "Jericho" but never found the time to sit down and watch it. MikeH inspires me to give it a try.

We're the Only Ones Who Want to Do Something Enough

And he wonders: Could he have done more to prevent the deaths of five Northern Illinois University students when a former student opened fire in a crowded auditorium last month?

“I know intuitively there’s nothing I could have done to protect them,” said Grady, the 54-year-old campus police chief.

“But it doesn’t change the fact that, inside, I feel like I wanted to be able to do something.”

How about just doing nothing, Chief?

Or if you must do something, how about becoming a vocal proponent for armed self defense, and conducting training classes for students and faculty at your police facilities?

Your physical courage is not at issue here--you acquitted yourself bravely. But you'll never be able to get there in time and you know it. And despite your belief to the contrary you're not "The Only One" capable of an approprate armed response.

Why should someone who wishes to defend himself fear you as well as a criminal assailant? And considering "the supreme law of the land" and what your likely response would be, why are you so sure there's a distinction?

A 77-year-old Illinois state representative is happy to be alive after a man with a gun pushed his way into her home and robbed her of $7.

So do you think Wyvetter H. Younge may back off from her traditional anti-defense zealotry?

This robbery and what's happening to this community is the result of a lack of a supportive system for our youth.

Yeah, it's the system's fault. That means we need to fix the system, as opposed to holding individuals accountable. We all share in the blame, so we all must be regulated.

The individual or the hive collective. It's up to the workers to feed the drones. And all serve the queen.

What Did YOU Do for "Earth Hour"?

The environmental group WWF urged governments, businesses and households to turn back to candle power for at least 60 minutes starting at 8 p.m. wherever they were.

Me, I went out on my enclosed porch, cracked a sliding door for ventilation, lit a carbon-emitting maduro, poured a little Cabernet and watched me some teeveee. Of course, I needed the space heater going full blast, 'cause man-made global warming notwithstanding, it's still pretty dang cold out there...

"A Bad Precedent"

The act of a governmental entity banning commercial sales of legal firearms, such as my .50 caliber rifle, not only violates the basic principles of the United States Constitution, but also puts national security at risk by ending the delicate balance between the government and the private sector. Furthermore, it sets a precedent that endangers the future of other vital defense contractors.

Ronnie Barrett tells it like it is and issues a warning.

Compare this bold and self-assured man with timid corporate hacks.

Bravo, Mr. Barrett! How refreshing it is to find a businessman who acts like a citizen is supposed to.

May the rest of the firearms industry notice your example and follow suit.

"America's Favorite" Endangerer

Restaurant officials have suspended the Pizza Hut driver, James William Spiers, while the case is under investigation. Polk County officials today confirmed that Spiers holds a valid gun permit, which was renewed in November....

Vonnie Walbert, vice president of human resources at Pizza Hut, said:“We have policy against carrying weapons. We prohibit employees from carrying guns because we believe that that is the safest for everybody.”

Walbert said Pizza Hut trains employees to report such incidences to police.

Vonnie, did you set out to be this thick, or do you actually know better and you're just mouthing the incantations required by your position? I guess the corporate risk management types have decided staying mum on the subject is tantamount to implied consent, and the fear is one of their drivers will drag them into a wrongful injury or death lawsuit.

And besides, delivery drivers are easy to replace. You might even call them expendable.

Between those two "realities," I guess corporate drones could self-excuse just enough to be able to look at themselves in the mirror.

We're the Only Ones...What the Hell are YOU Lookin' At?

Democrat Mark Herring said, “Drinking alcohol and carrying firearms is not a good mix. It’s a public safety issue. There was no compelling case for loosening the restriction on carrying a concealed weapon into bars.”

Still at it with this guns and bars crap, eh? Apparently because "The Only Ones" carry theirs all the time, with predictable results?

But "We the People" are just too damned stupid, drunk and trigger-happy, apparently, even though I've had a stocked cabinet and fridge along with my modest collection of defense tools for decades without incident now---say, there's a challenge. Let's see where the danger really lies:

We have what--4 million NRA members? I'll bet a sizable percentage of them keep beer, wine or booze in the home--the site of most domestic violence incidents. Why not publish how many alcohol-clouded shootings they committed last year, Mark, just to show the urgency of your ban. If you need help finding any, go ahead and use the last 10 years.

We're waiting.

Now on the flip side, to address that second bill exempting state elites (No permits? Sweet!), and just to make sure the experiment is complete and comprehensive, why not ban guns and alcohol in the homes of all government "officials," including attorneys and LEOs?

Between the two efforts, we ought to get a pretty good picture of where public policy resources ought to be focused...
