Had a bit of a look at the sites you sent me. I am a little disapointed at the comments as there not true at all. I dont believe in gun control at all. There are a few differences between the U.S. and oz like we dont have the second amendment so we dont have a legal right to bear arms as you lucky buggers do. Our government tells us its a privilage for us to have guns and by the way our law has been written, we dont have much of a say.

Just to clear up my comments on the television show ACA, I did say that the government done the right thing in bringing in laws to stop people like Martin Bryant getting there hands on firearms because he was mentally insaine, and killed 33 people. the conversation on the show stopped there but it didnt stop in reallity. I went on to say that responsible gun owners should be allowed to own anything they like as they are not the problem.

Unfortunitly for Australians, we dont have the same system as you guys, ours come from England and we dont have the same legal rights as you do, we just have to do the best with what we have.

Im sorry if there has been a misunderstanding but i am completely for the right to bear arms, sadly it makes no difference for us Aussies cause we dont have the second amendment.

Rethinking Her Approach

Howard is quoted as saying she opposed efforts to change to an ordinance prohibiting guns in public parks to comply with a state law passed in 2007 and upheld by the Ohio Supreme Court in 2008, calling the idea that anyone would want to carry a concealed firearm in a public park "ridiculous."

Does anyone really think this "Republican" is "rethinking her stance" based on principle, as opposed to calculating political costs after party leaders pulled her aside and told her she needed to tone things down for the present? And notice she really didn't promise anything?

Yeah, let's keep acting like we can play these creatures to our advantage. That way, we can act shocked...shocked when they pull a Gillibrand on us.

This Day in History: January 30

On January 30, 1778, General Washington gave a report on the result of a General Court martial held on January 23, when a soldier of the artillery was tried for desertion and stealing a horse from General McIntosh. The soldier was acquitted of the desertion charges, but found guilty of theft and was sentenced to receive 100 lashes on his back and have "half his pay stopped monthly until General McIntosh is fully satisfied". We discuss a video about open carry that starts at around 16:50. My segment starts around 22:30.

I'm trying to figure out why the camera is so jerky. Last week I had it set at 30 fps and it worked OK but every once in a while would freeze, like too much data was streaming in and clogging the pipeline. This week I scaled it back to 25 fps and it looked fine on my end, but in playback looks jerky, more like 5 fps. My Internet connection is high speed cable, but the lights on the modem were flashing a bit yesterday, so there could have been connectivity issues--we are having some weather here. Then again, it could have been with Skype, or on ASTN's end...

Ah well, I never claimed to be Dr. Zarkov...but I'll keep working on it. Any ideas on what I could try from those of you who work with technology more advanced than my old pull-start model will be welcome...please use very small words and try to talk like Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan if you don't want my eyes to glaze over.
