It Damn Well Can Happen Here

“It can’t happen here” is a political cliche in the United States. Regardless of your personal viewpoint, there is a vast swath of the American population who simply do not believe in the possibility of any kind of totalitarianism in the United States. Meanwhile, Oregon is about to become the test case for another national issue. The OFF supported “Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance” was passed by the voters in Columbia County. The commissioners in the county then took the passed ordinance, rewrote it and then asked for “judicial review” of the ordinance as changed by them.  While anti-gun forces were alerted to this request and then joined in the legal action, pro-gunners, including the people responsible for passing the ordinance, were kept in the dark and then blind sided by the inside effort to overturn it. SCOTUS Gets One Right

Held: Neither the holding nor logic of Cady justifies such warrantless searches and seizures in the home. Cady held that a warrantless search of an impounded vehicle for an unsecured firearm did not violate the Fourth Amendment. In reaching this conclusion, the Court noted that the officers who patrol the “public highways” are often called to discharge noncriminal “community caretaking functions,” such as responding to disabled vehicles or investigating accidents. 413 U. S., at 441. But searches of vehicles and homes are constitutionally different, as the Cady opinion repeatedly stressed. Id., at 439, 440– 442. The very core of the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee is the right of a person to retreat into his or her home and “there be free from unreasonable governmental intrusion.” Florida v. Jardines, 569 U. S. 1, 6. A recognition of the existence of “community caretaking” tasks, like rendering aid to motorists in disabled vehicles, is not an open-ended license to perform them anywhere. Pp. 3–4. 953 F. 3d 112, vacated and remanded. [More]

As Seen on the Internet

I don't know who to credit for this but it does express a fundamental truth. We're not the ones who keep squeezing.

Seeing the attorney general smear those who will not accept totalitarian dictats -- and seeing how those who do are being equated with those it is "acceptable" to take out without due process -- make it clear that the provocations are designed to elicit responses. It begins with the low-hanging fruit, and if provocateurs succeed in engineering a destructive enough act, the DSM will have no problem, at least for the time being, of convincing a low-information public that extreme responses are not only appropriate but something to demand.

I wonder how many have considered that may not work out as planned.

For Themselves and Their Posterity

Why America Needs Skilled Immigrants [More]

I'm sure  David H. McCormick and James M. Cunningham would be happy to unequivocally address my challenge. And back it up with equivalent evidence.

I actually consider NRO more subversive than overtly leftist outlets.

A Superior Alternative

Sources: Rep. Chip Roy Is Considering A Run Against Rep. Elise Stefanik For House Leadership [More]

I like his numbers a lot better than hers.

He's a lot better than her with "conservatives", too.

GOA calls him "the swamp's nightmare."

They don't mention her at all.

Why are establishment Republicans so eager to install her over the actually more "conservative" Liz Cheney? Anybody else getting the feeling we're being played?

Some Days an Anti Just Can't Get a Break

After the victim, who has a concealed carry weapons license, obtained his gun the four suspects fled on foot. [More]

That's got to be doubly disappointing for the grabbers-- first that he was armed, and then that he did not go homicidal so they could smear all gun owners as dangerous maniacs.

AG Merrick Garland says white supremacists are the biggest terror threat to US [More]

And you know who he means by that.

It Worked for Hillary

A letter from the president of the Arizona state Senate, which is conducting an audit of the 2020 presidential election results in Maricopa County, has a bombshell: County officials apparently erased an election database from a computer just before turning it over, under subpoena, for the audit. [More]

Don't worry. I'm sure any concerns are ...what's the word?... baseless.

Citizens's arrest Repeal in Georgia ...  Perhaps, since I bring a much needed contrarian point of view, my little letter may resonate with at least some of your readers. [More]

But, no surprise, The Georgia Recorder wanted nothing to do with thoughtful, comprehensive, and rational alternative information -- especially when it points out what they didn't say. And so they ignored it.

I'll put the educational and professional/editorial qualifications of Dr. Faria up against Editor-in-Chief Josh McCosh any damn day of the week.

Senate Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on Gun Violence Prevention

I just did not have time to watch this the other day. I'm not sure how much of it I'll have time to watch now, but I wanted to make sure readers here knew about it and had a chance to see what was said:

I'm particularly interested in the testimony of former ATF tech Richard Vasquez, who was a thorn in the Bureau's side on "bump stocks," and who, as I understand it, is not being helpful to them here.

One of These Things is Not Like the Others

Three commercials I recently became aware of caught my attention because of what two were required to provide and one was not.

Like the song asks, can you tell which thing is not like the others?

Latuda and Dupixent spots both share side effect warnings.  How do they know? Because of empirical studies that have identified risks so that prospective recipients can make informed choices.

The "Come get your vaccine" commercial shares none of that because the studies have not been done. Instead, viewers are emotionally manipulated into identifying with the recipients by the use of the power words "commitment, confidence, trust," and "joy."

Mike DeWine confirms it's a game of chance.

And noted super-achiever Chelsea Clinton demands a global ban on posts like this.

Just sayin'.

People vaccinated against Covid-19 can go without masks indoors and outdoors, CDC says [More]
How will people know? Will there be penalties for the maskless unvaxxed? Is this a way to pressure and shame those who follow the guidelines and keep theirs on?
