Former Holland Police Chief Kevin P. Gleason was sentenced to two years in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to charges he pocketed money from 16 town-bought guns and rifles he sold, many to police officers in other communities.

Mr. Gleason, 47, also admitted taking $2,190 from an evidence locker to which only he had access. The money had been seized in a drug arrest. [More]

Two years for this corrupt "Only One" hypocrite scum, who would send you or me up the river in a heartbeat for doing what he did.

I compare this to six-and-a-half years for Wayne Fincher and what I feel is best left unwritten.

When Major General Burgoyne and his men reached Albany in September, they found the city protected by 7,000 Patriots under Major General Horatio Gates. Because the Patriots had used the land to their advantage, they decided to sit and let the British make their move. There were some minor assaults, but finally on September 19, 1777, Major General Burgoyne and his troops attacked the Patriots at Freeman's Farm. I have mixed feelings about this one. Overbearing noise can be a form of intrusion. As can objections to any noise. I guess I need to learn more about the actual circumstances before concluding the neighbors are just a bunch of whiny antis...

One thing I don't have mixed feelings on is the right of all of us to engage in paramilitary training--and not have to disguise it as recreation. If we have the appropriate facilities for it and are not infringing on the rights of surrounding property owners, the hell with anybody who disapproves.

Carr acknowledged being detained by federal and local authorities at Newark Liberty International Airport after they found a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun stowed in luggage...

Right. You and I get busted with an unlicensed gun at a Jersey airport and I'm sure they'd do as much for us. No "Only One" double-standard here.

And heres' something else you'd think somebody would have picked up on:

Did this "law director" just admit he lied to a law enforcement investigation? Don't most people do time in the slammer for that?

Think he'd be concerned if this happened to one of his constituents as opposed to one of his henchmen? If "authorities" threw the book at a hapless citizen, do you think he'd agree they were "overzealous"?

Again, per JHU, aside from taking a course in self defense (Annie Le reportedly weighed 90 lbs.) and carrying a whistle, here's one thing we must never do:

I know I talked about this yesterday, but the comments just keep coming in, and it's instructive for us to realize how badly some in our society hate not only promoters of the right to keep and bear arms, but gun owners in general.

There is no reasoning with such as these. And there can be no compromise.

I understand the gate may have been broken. But how easy is it to get over or around most gates? Anybody who thinks that's all you need to guarantee safety is ignorant and negligent. You shouldn't expect others to pay for that.

I'm having a tough time sympathizing here. There's no gate around my house. But there is a conviction that friends should be met at the door with open arms--and enemies with loaded ones.
