So the "Only Ones" have elite compensation status, too? I guess I'm just ignorant as to how it works, since I've only ever been employed on an "at will" basis. If my bosses wanted to get rid of me, they could, which made me try extra hard not to make them want to do that. And when I did get into situations that seemed irreconcilable, I never once had anyone offer me "paid leave" until the situation resolved itself

Gee, maybe more people are going to have to start thinking about protecting themselves.

What seems to be obvious is Josh Sugarmann & Co. are increasingly showing themselves to be anti-human rights loons who are reduced to coming up with more and more preposterous ways to scream at passers-by for attention.

Recent Illinois Law (PA 95-0564) provides that health care professionals report patients to the state police anyone that they believe might pose a danger to themselves or others. ISRA has learned of situations where a party has been admitted to a hospital for stress, alcohol treatment, or other scenarios where part of the admission procedure included a short interview with a psychologist on staff. We're the Only Ones Apparently Stalking Enough

Most of us would probably think that a man who found himself being followed down a dark street by two people at midnight and turned to ask, "why are you following me?" while holding a folding pocket knife pointed down along his leg was just being careful. His actions seem especially reasonable when you know that he put the knife away upon hearing that his apparent stalkers actually meant no harm. But in New Hampshire, Dustin Almon was convicted of a misdemeanor because the two fellow pedestrians were plainclothes police officers. [More]

So naturally the "Only Ones" charged and arrested him upon determining that he was compliant and no criminal threat, and the judge took full advantage of an opportunity to put a presumptuous peon in his place.

Anthony Cattabriga sure is teaching that trainee well.

And while I generally find much to agree with Examiner colleague J.D. Tuccille on, in this case I have a difference of opinion: Based on results, the stalkers did mean harm. Otherwise, once they determined he was not a menace, they'd have congratulated him on his preparedness and maybe suggested he get a gun instead.

Tonight, AMC premieres their "The Prisoner" remake miniseries.

I've been looking forward to this for some time, and even bringing up my appreciation of the original series from time to time...

I'm hoping they don't mess it up. I'm happy to see they've included "Rover," and hope there are more nods to the original.

But then, as I've disclosed before, I'm an ornery originalist on just about everything:

I'm still livid with "Gunsmoke" for replacing Chester with Festus. Candy was an interloper who should have been driven off the Ponderosa--or better yet, hanged for Adam's disappearance. Who the hell are Ernie and Uncle Charlie, how did they get into the Douglas house on "My Three Sons," and what the hell did they do with Mike and Bub (I'm suspecting pod people here)? And "Zorro"--dude, you dress in black to evade pursuit on dark nights. What bad mescal could you have possibly been drinking to think replacing black Tornado with white Phantom was a tactically sound idea?

As for tonight? I guess I'll see.

I have been a hunter for over 50 years. Yet, I have never owned a pistol and have no intentions of owning one or an assault rifle. On the Internet, I found 361,000 automatic weapons for sale. Why are so many needed?
