Looking for any stories preferably with video of legal firearm owners defending themselves with firearms in Ca. & as much as possible specific to S.F. bay area. Have a reporter with pretty big name offering to potentially do a story on it when I get him vids. Any help or ref.s you may have will be greatly appreciated...My thoughts are they are not likely to find all that many DGU stories in that region due to anti-gun laws, including near-impossibility for anyone who is not connected to get a concealed carry permit. Still, there are some. I'm surprised a "big name" reporter wouldn't have the research savvy to start here, but I guess that's the difference between "Authorized Journalists" and #justablogger.

Rhetoric aside, there is one point that needs to be made in re background checks, from no less a source than the feds: "Effectiveness depends on the ability to reduce straw purchasing, requiring gun registration and an easy gun transfer process."
So this isn't about siding with either group, or pointing out flaws, or questioning motives, or effectiveness, or tactics, or anything else--plenty of other places will host that conversation. The discussion I'm inviting here centers on that core point.

So, I have it on good authority from a Master-at-Arms Senior Chief (MACS) buddy of mine that the author of this piece (a radar technician) was neither a SAMI (Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor) nor was he a base police officer, both of which are what he claims. He was an Navy AUXILIARY security force member (a rent-a-cop) and he was a line coach, which for those of you who are not familiar, means he was a safety supervisor that stands behind troops while they qualify on their weapons to help ensure no safety violations are committed. He didn't teach ANYTHING. GOA Responds to Sasse Charges
Ben Sasse is unequivocally a pro-gun candidate and he filled out our detailed candidate questionnaire with 100% accuracy. He affirmed unequivocally that gun free zones and legislation proposing mandatory background checks on the private sale of firearms are unconstitutional and violate the rights of law-abiding gun owners. [More]Fine and good, but this does not address the very specific allegations, particularly as they relate to Sasse presiding over a "gun free zone" and the immigration tie-in.
I've urged GOA to break down the details, including via email, and this general statement doesn't do that. As I'm always quick to point out disconnects between NRA grades and candidates, I'm not going to expect any different standards here. I hope they do, because until they do, this will hurt them.
