Don't Look for GOP to Block Kagan Over Guns

Why would we expect Republican careerists in the Senate, who have taken an oath to "support and defend the Constitution,"to view utter official disregard for the Second Amendment as "extreme"? After all, it says "shall not be infringed," but doesn't say anything about "eviscerated"... [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column makes note of what prominent GOP operatives do not consider to be "extreme". You know, every day stuff, like ignoring the Bill of Rights...

GRE Weekend Round Up

There's some good stuff being turned out by the Gun Rights Examiners. I hope you're availing yourself of it, and importantly, sharing these links via emails, on blogs and forums, with your local newspaper editor, etc.

A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."

These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.

Here are their latest offerings:

Howard Nemerov/Austin:
Anti-rights groups do our job for us

Dan Bidstrup/Denver:
National Peace Officers Memorial Day

Steve D. Jones/Fort Smith:

Oklahoma governor vetoes Open Carry bill

John Longenecker/Los Angeles:

Guns Magazine Examines McDonald Case and More

Somehow, with night temperatures still dipping into the 40s where I live, seeing the July issue of GUNS Magazine arrive in my mail box seems premature. But the sun is out as I write this, and I know later today the lawn will demand re-engagement, and that we'll soon reach that time where open windows can't compete with closed ones and the hum of the air conditioner.

This issue, aside from all the great articles by my colleagues, has two features I hope Gun Rights Examiner readers will find of particular interest. [More]
Those would be a reader letter in my defense, and my "Rights Watch" column about the McDonald case.

Once again you can download the current copy of the magazine and win a cool gun to boot.

Also get more Second Amendment March videos.

As noted earlier, Examiner has been having some site maintenance issues, so hopefully it won't take too many tries to connect.

I hope you think your gun owner friends ought to know they can read a magazine for free and that you share the link with them.

Examiner Down Again

They're doing some kind of maintenance and I can't get to the site right now. I did publish a GRE this morning but don't want to post the link here yet because experience hath shewn folks aren't inclined to try again later if they can't get a link to work.

Feel free to click on that Examiner click-through graphic in the left sidebar to see if you can access my site, and if you can, the new column will be on the top of the list. Otherwise, I'll post the link here when it looks like things have stabilized.

This is How He Pays Us Back

Gov. Brad Henry, worried about safety concerns, said trained and licensed Oklahomans already may protect themselves by carrying concealed handguns, and it doesn’t make anyone safer to wear a holster and display that weapon to others.

"On the contrary, it makes it more difficult and dangerous for law enforcement officers to try to sort out the good guys and bad guys when they arrive at a crime scene,” he said. [More]
Not the Brad Henry who was A rated and endorsed by NRA? Who ILA's Chris Cox said about:
"Your exemplary record of service as Governor of Oklahoma clearly illustrates your commitment to protecting the rights of law-abiding firearm owners and sportsmen. You have proven time and again to be a close ally and friend of Oklahoma's freedom-loving firearm owners."
I guess when you're term-limited out, you don't have to care about principle?

Like what he did here?

Exemplary.

Maybe we ought to start calling Brad "Kirsten"...

Or "Bill"...

Or "Joan"...

Or...say, maybe there's another way...?

Conservative TVonline Presents Second Amendment March Videos

Videos for the April 19 Second Amendment March in Washington DC are now available online. On Tuesday I posted part one of my speech, "Intolerable Acts," and on Wednesday posted part two--these were YouTube videos cut from footage taken by my friends at Oath Keepers. Another videographer was also recording the events of the day, Alex Rife of Conservative TVonline, and he has posted high quality videos that recorded each speech in its entirety. [More]
