We're the Only Ones Standing Down Enough

Now that every police encounter that results in any sort of injury to a Black or Latino suspect that’s resisting arrest immediately becomes national news, leading to protests and potential criminal charges against the cops, we’re seeing police “standing down” to avoid a violent confrontation. [More]

One More Time!

Misgivings of some notwithstanding, Mark Walters asked me back again today on Armed American Radio's Daily Defense. It's on at 4 Eastern and you can listen in via the station list or live streaming linked at the AAR website, or join in and chat on Facebook.

Here's yesterday's program, archived for the future...

Don't Worry, I Didn't Forget What Day It Is

Happy birthday, younger feral son Qusay!

Oh, yeah, and it's also this.

Don't tell Google-- they're too busy commemorating the indoctrinators.

Two Wolves and a Sheep

The Founding Fathers drafted a genius system to give the majority the power it rightly demands while seeking to protect the rights of those with far less political heft. [More]

That's not good enough for totalitarians, who by definition want it all.

[Via Michael G]

The New Reality

You behave according to traditional Western and Biblical jurisprudence, and then the unthinkable happens. You’ve been baited into a response.  Every action has been videoed.  A prosecutor charges you with some crime, or even decides not to. [More]

The lawless use the law against us. What they don't seem to realize is those laws protect them from us, too.

If self-preservation requires the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God to take precedence, you might want to think about ways of not getting caught.

Follow the Money

The point person for the Fight Back Table, a coalition of liberal organizations planning for a "post-Election Day political apocalypse scenario," leads a progressive coalition that is part of a massive liberal dark money network.  [More]

Any Further Judicial Contortions and They'll Have Their Ankles Behind Their Ears

The Hawai'i Federal District Court has issued an opinion in Teter v. Connors that guts the Second Amendment. The opinion holds that even if butterfly or "balisong" knives are protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution, a state law banning any possession, manufacture or transport of such knives is constitutionally valid. [More]

This is just in-your-face, and the Ninth hardly fills the heart with hope. Neither does SCOTUS, for that matter, with its inclination to let Intolerable Acts stand simply by doing nothing. It doesn't matter how well-argued and logical a case is, those in "authority" bent on tyranny are not going to relent until there is a credible "or else" attached to a demand to back off.

We're the Only Ones Unannounced Enough

What We Know About the Killing of Breonna Taylor [More]

What an intolerable travesty. In many ways, particularly with the "Vision Russell" aspect, it reminds me of the corrupt execution of Donald Scott. And as always, the ones paying for it -- the tax cows -- are the ones who didn't do anything.

That's why "conservatives" aren't doing themselves any favors with mindless "Back the Blue" pandering. They wouldn't be called "Only Ones" if they weren't immune from much of what they'd kill us for.

If occasional "no-knock" raids help facilitate officer safety, blatant abuse of it is what brought votes to ban the practice about.

[Via Mack H]

UPDATE: Well, this certainly puts a counterpoint to what the "news" has been telling us and gives what appears to be credible information to warrant rethinking some assumptions:

Snitches Get What Again?

This is a purported court motion filed by the defense for J. Alexander Kueng, one of the officers charged along with the others for the death of George Floyd:

In re whether this is real or a hoax, while I haven't been able to find a copy of this document accessible from the Minnesota Judicial Branch records access webpage ( I believe a document request is needed but haven't driven deeper into that process), I was able to find a corresponding entry for that case on that date:

Not that I'm excusing or condoning anything, but I do wonder if some now "protesting " in George Floyd's name would have rabidly joined in the deed themselves had they known.

UPDATE: Appears to be real. [H/T Wirecutter]

Pander Express

Today U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) will introduce the David Dorn Back the Blue Act to raise police officer salaries and increase officer hiring and retention. [More]

Including the "Only Ones" who take knees and confiscate guns?

Yeah, he's a damn fork-tongued squish about that

He's a lawyer -- I wonder if he can cite the clause in the Constitution where the Founders envisioned this as a function of the national government.

This is the kind of flag-waving-for-show that gives fuel to those equating Republicans with fascist police statists. That there are plenty who fall for it works against those who prefer Bill of Rights enforcement overriding law enforcement.

If You're Going to Be a Pariah Anyway, Why Not Be a Defiant One?

CO GOTV

I've been asked to pass this message along. I do wish groups would publish these on their websites so those of us who post via blogs and on social media could share a link.

I do have one concern with the wording, something I've said here many times: I will not "lose [my] fundamental rights" until I am dead. True, we can be blocked from exercising them by force, but this is more than a quibble over semantics-- it goes to the nature of rights. We don't have special ones simply because we're Americans -- we just have a special system for recognizing them.  Or had, with the buildup of erosions gaining momentum and approaching the point of critical collapse unless we reverse it.

Curious thing about these tax plunder-funded collectives: They never are much interested in two sides, are they?

There's a lot of information here and at the risk of minimizing anything, one point stands out to me, the bit about requiring financial institutions competing for state bond/municipal business to parrot directed anti-gun propaganda to their clients.  I'm wondering if that might not open a door to First Amendment and other challenges.

Several of you have sent me links to this. I've seen it and hesitated on commenting so far because I've also seen challenges to some of the interpretations of what the Constitution actually says. Without getting into those details, I just don't see this happening for the more basic reason that it would be a tactically very vulnerable position from which to start a civil war, which this would instantly do and which no one can be truly prepared for.

That so many are enamored by it suggests wishful thinking that someone else will take the risks and make the sacrifices to save us. And the use of adverbs like "merely" reflects a belief that the answer is simple.

I don't find denial helpful. I find it an excuse for many to continue being lazy.
