An Unusual Tactic
Though drugs were not involved in the Blackwater shooting, the Justice Department is pondering the use of a law, passed at the height of the nation's crack epidemic, to prosecute the guards. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 law calls for 30-year prison terms for using machine guns to commit violent crimes of any kind, whether drug-related or not.So, depending on the circumstances, resistance to gun confiscation could result in drug charges?
I guess if it comes to that, it won't really matter.
Given enough opportunities for innovation, I suppose all kinds of unusual tactics might emerge.

I wonder if this...this "Only One" had ended up under the front bumper, dragged and smeared along the breakdown lane, if a justifiable defense of life argument could be made? Naw, this is Boston, after all.Jennifer Davis was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on Nov. 18, her contractions just 3 minutes apart. Her husband, John, was trying to appear calm for his wife's sake, driving in the breakdown lane of Route 2. They pulled up behind a state trooper to ask whether they could continue using the lane to reach the next exit, near Alewife Station.
Not only did the trooper say no, he gave them a $100 citation for driving in the breakdown lane, made them wait for their citation while he finished writing someone else's ticket, and even seemed to ask for proof of pregnancy, Jennifer Davis said.
And note once again how our wonderful "Authorized Journalist" watchdog media lets us know the names of everyone involved except the fascist pinhead on the public dole. I'm informed I did not read far enough into the article--Trooper Michael Galluccio.

Remington CEO Issues Statement on HS-Precision
I just got off the phone with Tommy Millner, President and CEO of Remington Arms Company.
First, he assures me the email reproduced on AR15.com is authentic.
He has been in contact with HS-Precision management after getting blindsided by the Lon Horiuchi development, and has also personally read and responded to every email sent to him by concerned customers.
He assures me Remington takes this situation, and lack of response by HS-Precision, very seriously, and completely disapproves of what they have done. He tells me Remington is committed to doing the right thing by their thousands of customers, up to and including changing suppliers if there is no other way to go forward.
As a personal note, I was impressed by his accessibility and candor. We've got a guy caught up in a situation not of his making trying to do the right thing, and my recommendation is to trust that he will.
At this point, we need to see what HS-Precision does next.

But still, where in history is any civilization guaranteed stasis? Have not despotism and mass destruction plagued every civilization that preceded ours? Is it not, in fact, still commonplace throughout the globe? By what suspension of reality, by what denial of the observable and the probable, by what art, device or magic are we sheltered few immune from catastrophe? Are we certain, from our brief and privileged vantage point, that such things will ever remain headline curiosities? Is it not just plain stupid to proclaim that our familiar way of life will forever be the norm, when everything that has gone before us shows we are, instead, the extremely lucky beneficiaries of a rare and fortunate convergence of circumstances; and one, by the way, that has only been preserved under force of arms?

When people no one dares say "No" to predictably go out of (self) control, that should have no bearing on other individuals who happen to share a profession and who don't exhibit such failings.
Malone's quoted words indicate he doesn't get it, and has no business representing himself as a "gun rights leader."

Drunk Drivers Against Guns
Circuit Court Judge Earl Hoffenberg ordered Ditka's driver's license suspended for six months because he had refused to take a test after he was arrested for drunken driving...Yeah, it was some years ago, but I don't care.
His calling for a blanket ban on gun ownership based on profession was stupid and obnoxious enough to where it's fair to wonder if he'd been drinking.

House of Blues
Yesterday, we anticipated the arrival of anti-gun mayors in Cleveland for a public discussion of their plot against Liberty. They did not fail to disappoint.Here's today's Gun Rights Examiner column.
Nor, we shall see, did our friends in the media.
I was on a conference call yesterday hosted by the Examiner.com CEO. There's been a lot of progress on this start-up venture, which really only began a few months ago, and big plans for investment in growth in 2009.
I cannot over-emphasize, if this column is to be worth the effort, how important it is for friends of this blog who find value here on a regular basis to make a point of visiting my Examiner site and spreading the links to your gun-owner friends. As it stands now, my column is consistently the most popular in both my geographic area and category, but the stats need a lot more growth before any heads are turned.
I hope WoG regulars will realize I'm doing what I can. If you think I suck, I'm not asking you to change your mind. But if you like it here, I could really use some consistent support at spreading the word, or at least clicking on the link and reading the dang thing every weekday.

Gray Lady Gloats

Expect to see these "talking points" parroted all over the leftist media. Also expect it to come from the RINO wing of the Republican party, the neoconartists who maintain we just weren't neoconny enough, and we need to steer the ship even further to port side.
McCain lost because he sucks. He wants to end private sales. Sure, some gun owners dutifully fell in the nose-holding line, but that's not enough. Without inspiration, there is no fire in the belly. That reflects on donations, volunteers, enthusiasm and even participation in the process.
And bringing up Elizabeth Dole as proof that the dream is over? The same Liddy Dole with the huge "but", whose husband also betrayed us? What NRA was doing getting into bed with this cow in the first place is a better story.
Still, The Times may be right, and pragmatic politics may not save us. I know some don't think we should make any plans or practice before the Big Game, or even talk about it, but every serious player I know is doing an equipment check and running through playbooks prior to suiting up.
Just in case anybody actually has to go out on the field and get dirty.
I know talking about the insurrectionary intent the Founders envisioned for the Second Amendment makes some uncomfortable, but without it, what good is it?

Appeal for Information in Fincher Case
Fellow 2nd Amendment advocates:
I am filing a petition for writ of certiorari in the Fincher case pro bono publico. The only hope I think we have of getting the writ granted is a strong showing that the holding of DC v. Heller is being ignored, or, at best, treated with a complete lack of seriousness by the nation's inferior federal courts.
Stewart Rhodes has been capably assisting me on the case, but, I learned tonight, he has run into an unfortunate family emergency which prevents him from doing all the legal research he would like to for Mr. Fincher. This puts me me in a time-crunch, given all the detailed preparation a petition necessarily entails. Hence I reach out to you. If you know or have heard of any cases which might fit my bill, would you please be kind enough to reference them to me?

When you first emailed me I honestly did not recall horiuchi's name so you caught me unawares. I also do not read the blogs so the fact there was an issue came as a surpise.
In any event, HS makes a great product and we are a large customer of theirs. Why they would pick a super controversial spokesperson is beyond me. Doing this violates pure business common sense. Early next week we will use whatever persuasive powers at our disposal to get HS to do the right thing..
Do me a favor and tell those on the bolgs that Remington and I are now fully aware of the issue, in full agreement with the outrage, and will do what we can t exert pressure on HS to reverse course.

Checkpoint Gun Check
We spoke the other day about the proposed domestic deployment of 20,000 troops. A question has been posed to me via email about this photo from the MSNBC story:
Notice the green banding on the weapon of the soldier (a woman?) at the left? Now maybe that just has to do with the sling mounts - but I've also seen those types of markings on unloaded weapons - specifically there so one would know they were unloaded.
Maybe someone else would know more on this - but it led me to wonder if she was just out standing there like a scarecrow?
Anyone who can educate us on this, please do so.

I Guess Their Long Weekend...
...is more important than squarely addressing the controversy of their creation, because there are no announcements on the H-S Precision website. It makes me wonder about the reliability of reports I've read that say someone high up in the company is friends with Lon Horiuchi.Regardless, this conscious decision to avoid rather than address is just getting people madder. I'm seeing the next phase unfolding as industry partners and distributors are getting dragged in. If H-S management thinks they can just hide and everything will blow over, I'm starting to see how they could have been oblivious enough to print the testimonial in the first place.
Along with anger, ridicule is setting in. There's even a contest where you can win a $25 Midway USA gift certificate. (Oh, good: You can use it to get a discount on H-S Precision products!)
I don't enter contests. If I did, my submission would be something stupid and offensive, like the graphic on the right.
From what I've seen so far, I'd vote for this guy's entry. That "Dylan" quote made me laugh out loud.

I'm always surprised to find gun owners treading lightly around the women in their lives. I don't have any solutions once the bed has been made.
My only advice would be to ensure compatibility on the important things before committing yourself. And especially before bringing children into the equation.

Own an M1A/M14SA?
I don't typically "do" hardware here, but a longtime reader and correspondent, whose judgment I trust, thought some of you would benefit from this. And no, he doesn't stand to make a dime off this:
This ammunition is typically very hard to find because of wartime demands. I know I have been looking for it since about June and have been unable to find it at a reasonable price. People that snatch it up early usually try to resell at incredibly inflated prices (can you blame them for trying to make a buck???). People that need it usually hang on to it and use it sparingly for practice. It seems to only come around a couple of times a year.Yes ... there's plenty of commercial ammo out there that will work just fine. However, some people that have invested a little extra cash to get an utterly dependable rifle built for them (forged, premium steel parts, proper headspacing, matched bolt/chamber, etc) will also have a rifle that is specifically chambered for this round. I am talking about the M1A or M14 family of rifles built by the likes of Fulton Armory, Smith Enterprise, LRB Arms ... to name a few. Incidentally, these are some of the same type of rifles that Gabe Suarez recommends for the "partisan fighter" or "guerilla sniper" in his politically incorrect book, Guerilla Sniper.Here's a sample of current auctions/sales online so you can see the current asking prices ....Item three (note the "buy now" price)Anyway, I wanted to share this information in case any of your readers were interested and happened to own a rifle that was specifically designed/built around this round. Why the vets didn't refuse is a question I have. And then I read the young animals are respectively 19 and 20? I guess that's a prime age for feral gangbangers. Who better to exalt to the status of "Only One"?
Perhaps the vets from the "Battle of Athens" were of a generation still in touch with rights that are no longer taught. But what disturbs me the most about this is the "follow any order" mentality manifested here.

Night of the Evil Butterball
Attacks by roving flocks of wild turkeys are on the increase around suburban Boston--AP
Time was, the turkey was considered a game bird. The Pilgrims at Plymouth feasted on them. Generations later, Ben Franklin considered it such a useful fowl that he nominated it for the national bird.
Of course, this was in the days when the right to bear arms was taken for granted, when free people hunted turkeys for sustenance, all the while honing marksmanship that would serve them well in time of need.
Flash forward to present-day Boston, a place of sacred tradition, the literal forge for our heritage of individual liberty. Except Boston is now a place where traditions have been betrayed. Its current overlords have succeeded in disarming the whole people in a way that General Gage could never have conceived possible.
So successful have these rulers been that the city that gave us Sam Adams and Paul Revere is now a city under siege, and this is fittingly ironic if you think about it, by wild turkeys. So helpless and hapless are Boston's modern-day patriots, they can do little except retreat from the aggressive gobblers, escape, hole up and plead for rescue from the very authorities that enforce public impotence.
This is what the heirs of The Sons of Liberty have been reduced to. This is what they have allowed, and in many cases, demanded. Human beings, with dominion over the earth, scurrying from turkeys. The tolerated degradation of the masses is damned near complete.
This does not escape the notice of those who impose their tyranny upon us. What new outrage are they now free to impose? What can't they do? After all, we're talking about subjects who would cede their birthright to birds.
The greasy-lipped masters have to be laughing like hell as they reach across their table of plunder and rip off another drumstick...

A Personal Perspective on H-S Precision and Horiuchi
The unfolding H-S Precision/Lon Horiuchi fiasco literally made my jaw drop, probably because I was one of the few voices many years ago covering an angle of the Horiuchi prosecution that the mainstream press couldn't be bothered to notice.
I'd been involved even earlier in writing the Boundary County prosecutor to get the killer criminally tried. When a federal court gave the green light for doing just that, I speculated on whether or not the locals would take over.
Then came news the prosecutor was being investigated on felony forgery charges. My reaction:

My own hypothesis, and I emphasize I can't prove it, is that pressure from on high was brought to bear. If I had a drink and a cigar, and was with people I knew around a campfire, I'd be speculating on blackmail/extortion.
Justice has not been done. And I'm still extremely bitter. Which is the reason I've purposely kept my emotions in check--so far. I just don't see how the owners of H-S Precision could be so damned...I don't even have a word for it.
I feel badly for employees who have their livelihoods invested there, because I can predict the potential fury of the storm we're just getting the first gusts from. Perhaps when it's over we can discuss ways the gun industry can attune itself with the activist community. That they don't already have someone assigned to monitor sentiment and feed that to their public face people just astounds me.

We chatted for about 5 minutes, about the background, about the intent, about the ramifications, and about what's next. I scribbled notes as quickly as I could, but decided to hold back and await an official company statement.

We're the Only Ones Who Can Use That Word Enough
The co-chairman of the state legislature's judiciary committee wants a full review of allegations that a judge charged with drunken driving last month angrily hurled epithets at police officers during her arrest, called a black state police sergeant nigger and told officers she was a state judge.See, if an entitled "Only One" of color* uses it, "the community" stays low-key. I can imagine a situation where a different judge doing the same thing would prompt a special media op for Al and Jesse, along with incensed crowds demanding the career, if not the head of the offender. Instead, the media is pretty quiet on this one.
What I actually find more offensive is the presumption that because she's a judge, she deserves some special consideration. That she's also a racist moron just confirms she is the type of person who thinks her position in government exalts her over the rest of us.

* Just out of curiosity: Why is "person of color" acceptable but "colored person" is deemed offensive? I suspect it's the same reason race fluffers are hailed as civil rights champions, and gun owners are portrayed as racists--that is, it serves an agenda.
